For SGs I don't know.  For PGs, I have commented alot on Billups in other threads.  He is very good on manual, and he nails most 3 point shots for me.  But his defense against opponents in SD leaves me thinking he plays soft and gets the ball stolen frequently.  I might try Lillard to see if he plays better on defense than Billups.  I think 98 Simmons would be better at defense, but I would not use him to shoot many three point shots as his 3pt stats aren't great.

Wakaso, apologies for the thread hijack, but the issues were similar to those I was struggling with and I replied to the thread.  "AI" as in artificial intelligence, but used here to refer to how your team plays when someone else is playing against you in Showdown, rather than how your team plays when you are controlling it.  Since you have no control of your team at that point, you hope that it is playing tough against your opponent rather than playing soft and allowing your opponent to put up big numbers against you.

Betaman - that is exactly what I am a bit pissed off about.  Billups (for example) has 93 OBD and 93 steal (before the team boosts), but when people are putting up 20+ points against me in SD, I cannot believe he is getting any steals, and is probably getting stripped repeatedly.  He is not playing up to his defensive stats.

At this point (with 95/94 OVR team), I am not in the running for top 1000, and with my team losing as much as it does against opponents in AI, I am struggling to progress in SD.

I'm wondering whether I should upgrade my PG in the short term (say one that costs 5M or less) until I can build up enough coin to get the best. (BB Simmons).

The 91 NYs are not extinct in that they still exist and come up in the AH, but they are rare to very rare.  They are also sought after due to their higher OVR than regular NY cards and the double +3 boost they each have.

Oladipo is the most expensive (other than Curry) and comes up the least frequently.  I've seen him range from bid of 3.7M to 4.5M, usually closer to the higher of that range.

Giannis comes up more frequently and I have seen his bid price range from high 2M to 4M.

I have been playing since late 2017 but like you I have hit a wall in SD.

I've come to the conclusion that UL Billups, while quite good on manual control, is soft on AI and opponents are stealing the ball from him and putting up big numbers against me.  So even if I win my side of the match, but only by 6 points or so, there is a good chance I will lose as the opponent can put up bigger numbers against me.

I have advised others to stay away from Kyrie because I can steal the ball from him fairly often, and when I play another player with Billups I can steal the ball from him (with my Billups).  Right now I'm a bit low on coin so I'm focusing on building up the coin until I can afford a PG with better AI.

It also depends on your OVR.  Howard will max at 98/99 depending.  If you are going for over 100 you probably replace him at some point.

And Howard plays pretty significantly better when he's trained vs untrained.  With the cost of player training at the moment, I'd just go with Dikembe, who plays well even untrained.

Betaman, thanks.  If the cards plays as well as its legend, it is worth that many coins.

Showdown just isn't fun when opponents (within 1 OVR either side of me) are putting up scores against my AI such as 5-20 or similar.  Obviously my AI is playing soft and the PG (Billups) is having the ball stolen frequently.  When I play another team with Billups, I am able to steal the ball once if not twice a game, so I can presume others are having the same luck against my Billups.

I'm thinking of doing the minimum on Showdown until I can put together a team that can hold its own with AI, so that I'm not needing to outscore the opponent by 12 or more to win the match.  I can't afford 15M but I plan to focus on building up my coin to get a PG who not only plays well manually, but has good AI as well.

Side note - every 4th game or so my AI puts on a performance and actually outscores the opponent, resulting in a win if I don't blow my side of the match.  If my AI played tough each game, I would be satisfied.

Guys, how much does that Simmons go for, and how often does he come up?  I have been trying to find him in the AH and have yet to do so.

I have UL Carter at level 4 and am just going to max him out.  I should get Harden in a bit over a month.  Was not planning on getting Starks but just waiting it out.

It is the game AI.  If there is a defender close to your player when you take a shot, most likely you will miss the shot and get a message "tightly guarded," whether the guy was guarding you or just near you.  And of course on defense you can be right in the guy's face and he will splash it on top of you and you may get a message "open shot."

The rules are different for you and AI.  It is just the way it is, and everybody has to deal with it.  The trick is learning to avoid the common pitfalls so that you can get open shots and drain them.

The lowest I have seen one sell for recently is low 600k, but prices are high right now and most are listed above 800k.

His stats are low, so I assume you are looking at him for his +3 three point boost.

Mutombo is considered one of the premier centers at the moment, is on a majority of the top 10 showdown teams.  But if you don't want him sell him, and do it quickly as his price may drop as EA brings out new higher OVR players.

anatdoc - do you bother grinding UL events now?  It seems like pack opening is totally random now.  Probably easier to just buy the cards, or a wildcard if the highest card is too expensive.

Are we not ever going to get new ULs?  Are we going to continue get events that give us cards entirely unrelated to the event underway?

My understanding is that if you pull a card from the 10 badges now, there is no correlation with the event underway.  I've got a bunch of packs saved up but the last one I opened gave me 84 Cousy, totally useless to me except for auction.

    Quote from pearljamfan0802 >>

You get matched up with a team that's OVR is 6 lower than yours. Easy win, right? Once you start playing, though, you can just tell the AI isn't going to let it happen. Sure enough, you lose the quarter, or perhaps you even barely won by 1 or 2 (which won't negate the beatdown you know is heading your way)...

This is spot on.  Once you start playing you can tell if AI is playing soft, medium or hard. If they have a player with a clutch ability, and that player never even attempts the clutch shot, AI is probably going to let you win that one.
One time I had an anomaly though.  I started playing and it felt like AI was playing soft, let me get a 7-0 lead in the first 45 seconds.  Then, the switch flipped, AI got super tough on D, wouldn't let me sniff the basket, and it went on an 11-0 run or something.
