I've been using 97 Dirk for a long time. Just swapped in McHale and immediately noticed a difference. McHale grabs more boards and contests/blocks more shots while basically providing the equivalent in every other area.

Do you have the NBA Lineup McHale? I was thinking of picking him up over a trained to 100 OVR Finals Master Duncan
Yeah, I picked up both as an investment, may end up keeping the Classic though as he's better than 97 Dirk. I do prefer maxed Signature Markkanen for the NBA lineup though, but he's one of the better NBA PFs for sure.
Maxed Markkanen is where it's at! He might be my favorite card so far this year.

If you have Royalty Lebron then he's probably not worth it. If you don't have Lebron then he's worth it. Durant would probably be going for 30+ million coins if he was auctionable and that's a conservative estimate.

I pulled him from the set and I was pleasantly surprised as well. He's solid on defense and rebounding, and he's unstoppable in the paint. He actually seems like a better shooter than his stats would suggest - I think he hit like three 3-pointers in my first game with him. He's fun to play with... if I didn't already have Larry Bird in that spot I'd seriously consider keeping him. I honestly did not think I'd say that when I got him, though lol...

I've played quite a bit with Mutombo and Embiid since I had a hard time deciding which one to keep. You really can't go wrong with either one, though. They're both great options - they seem to be each other's acquiles heel in showdown. I ended up sticking with Embiid because he's 98 overall and has a bench boost so I figured I'd be able to hold onto him longer.

This question is for people who previously had Royalty Lebron and upgraded to Finals MVP Durant.  Assume that EA fixes the 3-clutch-per-quarter glitch and changes it to just one per quarter like Royalty Lebron, is KD still worth the upgrade? Is his manual gameplay that much better than Lebron's?

To me it looks like he'd cost about 27 million coins to build (36 million total, but I've already built Steph Curry) and I could sell 3 of the finals legends for around 10-12 million coins, so he'd be about 15-17 million additional coins, 24-26 million in total.

This story with 3 clutch is a massive lie from EA.. 2 months ago they downgrade lebron to one clutch. Harden followed with the same downgrade. And I’m asking... when you sell a product how on earth one morning you just downgrade it? Is a product that the buyer agreed to buy for the right abilities! I’m sure is illegal what they did and the story that is a bug is just a story. I’m afraid they gonna do the same to KD.

Lol I totally agree... That's why I said assuming his clutch will be downgraded to one instead of three, is he still worth it? I'm not so sure, but wanted to see what others had to say. I also agree it's not right for EA to do that - people are going to pay more coins for a card with 3 clutches over 1, EA knows that, and I think they're presenting it as a bug to fit their agenda of squeezing as much money from everybody as possible.

Can we get a solid list going...I read this thread twice and still can't figure out who is confirmed to give the bonus!

Here's the list. Each player listed consists of a 95 and 99 version for both the NBA and classic lineup - all versions of each finals player counts toward the 75% boost:
    • Jason Kidd (PG, Balanced/Power)
    • Elgin Baylor (SG, Shooting/RnG)
    • Steve Kerr (PG, Shooting/Power)
    • Bill Russell (C, Defensive/RnG)
    • Larry Bird (SF, Shooting/Power)
    • Clyde Drexler (SG, Balanced/RnG)
    • Wes Unseld (PF, Defensive/RnG)
    • Ben Wallace (C, Balanced/RnG)
    • Scottie Pippen (SF, Shooting/RnG)
    • Tim Duncan (PF, Defensive/Power)

These are the players that were available in sets only on the day of the finals games, and they are even including new players for the games that will not occur, like Kidd and Baylor for game 5 today.

  • posted a message on Best PG right now

I think this will bring back up the debate of whether it's better to have a PG with the best AI, or the PG that's the most fun to play with. Personally, I have finals Steph Curry and he's the most fun to play with - mainly because he's the best shooter I've played with all year, but also because he gets a lot of steals.

I err on the side of most fun to play with, because... you're not actually playing with the AI so who cares how they play?! And it's a game, intended for entertainment, so I say have fun with it. That's my personal opinion, but I know others will disagree. Honestly, my win percentage has gone up since I added Steph to the lineup, though. I know others have claimed theirs went down, but I've been winning a lot more showdown games with Steph, even against +2-4 higher overall teams.

If it helps my last few PGs have been 87 F&I Simmons maxed to 92, 93 LNY Jeremy Lin, 95 Tony Parker, 97 John Wall, and 97 Chauncey Billups. They're all really great choices in my opinion, but Steph has been the best and most fun for me personally. The best way to know for sure which one you like is to try as many of them as you can.

Correct, only the game legends I listed above would count.

It's the finals "game" legends, so Jason Kidd and Elgin Baylor are today's game legends. Others include Steve Kerr, Bill Russell, Larry Bird, Clyde Drexler, Wes Unseld, Ben Wallace, Scottie Pippen and Tim Duncan. I'm not sure if both the 95 and 99 versions give the boost, though, but I would guess probably so. I have the 99 Bird and I know he gives the boost.

My maxed 99 UL Howard always outrebound Lauri. His AI is not the best at defence.

I think you're thinking of the TOTW 92 Markkanen that plays the center position maybe?

93 Lauri stats are insane if anybody has him fully trained please post photo

Here you go! His gameplay absolutely matches his stats. He's been my favorite card to play with so far this year. I added in maxed Love and Bosh for comparison.
    Maxed signature Lauri Markkanen
    Maxed finals Kevin Love
    Maxed UL Chris Bosh

I think it's maxed signature Markkanen, although he's hard to find now, followed by finals Love or UL Bosh.

I think it’s a balance of both manual and AI that I take into consideration. Because, let’s face it: you can score 20 points in a quarter with a +10 margin, but if the opponent is scoring 20 points with a +15 margin, largely because your player(s)’ AI sucks, that’s something to consider. Also I disagree about OVR being the overriding factor for player effectiveness. I find that BB Simmons still does his thing whether I’m facing a 96 OVR or a 102 OVR. The 102 OVR is tougher obviously, but the same trends apply to a player’s AI regardless of OVR (e.g., curry being easy to strip and Bb Simmons being tougher to strip, though not impossible).

I agree OVR's not the only factor, but I'd say it's the main factor. There is a degree of randomness to it for sure, but I'd say it's 1 or 2 games out of 10 that BB Simmons will go off against a lower OVR team - or 1-2 out of 10 that their team just goes off in general - and it's 8 or 9 out of 10 games that BB Simmons will go off when playing against a higher OVR team. 1-2/10 and 8-9/10 are likely not the exact percentages, but I'd say that's about what it's like from my experience. I'll steal the ball from BB Simmons 3-4 times against a lower OVR easily and won't be able to get a single steal against BB Simmons on a higher team. I win plenty against higher OVR teams, even 100-102, but they're likely to be much tougher more of the time no matter who they have on the team. EA purposely set it up that way to make us want to throw money at the game.

Buy Steph Curry because he's the best shooter in the game and because he gets a ton of steals - seriously it's weird/highly unlikely to score less than 20 points a quarter since I added Steph to the squad. I really don't know why anybody bases their decision on whether or not to keep/buy a player based on their AI. When I face a lower OVR team, Ben Simmons (F&I or POTM) is nonexistent... When I face a higher OVR team Ben Simmons, Steph Curry, John Wall, Chauncey Billups, doesn't matter what PG they have, they turn into the best player of all time. You should buy a player because they're fun to play with manually and Steph is as fun as it gets.
