I don’t do a whole lot with the center position, but driving etc, it seems, wilt, dwight, dikembe, all about same to me

Wasted no time getting him to 102! I smoked you in Showdown too! Haha

Lillard still holds his own against Kyrie IMO.  I'm going for the Simmons.

My 99 maxed Lillard is killing Kyrie’s 98 AI all day. I’m torn...Simmons is a no-brainer but do I want Kyrie’s bench boost or just use Lillard and build a different DS Master like Embiid? I think I can do two though and I’m having difficulty picking a 3rd...

  • posted a message on How good is 97 Billups?

I am using Billups in my starting 5 now and I agree to everything that has been said about his offense. I don't typically rely on my pg for defense since I find that I get way more steals in mis-match situations where I have showdown lebron or ul peja trying to steal the ball from their pg. Their longer arms and speed are perfect for fast breaks on loose balls. But now that I have Billups I believe that I am going to go another route besides 98 Irving since he is up there with 97 stockton as far as how easy it is to steal the ball away from them in showdown. I may try out Embiid or just start building 98 simmons since I know he will always be a high demand card.

Ok, so I’m not the only one who noticed this. Kind of a bummer...I’m pivoting towards Embiid now or may just sell my 90 cards. Haven’t decided. Also considering going for the 93’s in case they become trainable after the promo.

I could be in the minority but I'm kinda down on the 98 Kyrie. I'm sure his manual play is great but I haven't seen anything from his AI in Showdown thus far. He might be the easiest PG to steal from yet...and he's missed plenty of "open looks".  I'd lean towards Embiid and put some effort into POTM Simmons.

I will try but when im counting the ovr score of  all my players on first lineup and bench they are better than someone who has 99.

Boosts and the crappy rounding that EA uses can affect the team OVR calculation.

All things equal, I’d go for Kyrie for the eventual bench boost. I’m planning to get him and TOTM Simmons. I’m using maxed Lillard right now and he’s definitely serviceable.

All points made seem legit...one thing I noticed is that when I'm winning quarters consecutively there comes a point where the game just turns on me...I'll lose 3-4 quarters straight no matter how well I play or how much of an "advantage" my lineup has...the only real guarantees are the clutch and buzzer beater shots...aside from that it's a toss up at best

Yessssssssssss.   I feel a little more sane after reading your post

if if I get up 12-0, 13-0, I should just go to the 4 corners....I am always trying to figure out best way to proceed when I get ahead like that...
I think slowing the game down once you get up by double digits is the best strategy. My experience is you go cold and the other team gets hot so eliminating possessions is the best chance to maintain your margin.

I believe they mess with the formula of the gameplay but they don’t nerf individual players. They might be “nerfing” positions through the gameplay formula. I don’t know how it exactly works but I have been playing since the beginning and none of my players have just fell off.

I agree they probably don’t nerf individual cards; otherwise, I’d expect 91 Simmons cards to have been nerfed a long time ago (to force upgrades). My theory is that as your team changes (coach, training and players), so does the gameplay of individual players. I’ve commented on this before, but I’ve experienced this nerfing firsthand and have been able to reverse it as well as bring the nerf back again by making changes to my lineup and then reversing them again. I’ve only confirmed coach and players but training has also had an impact (i.e. train one player and it affects another) but I just haven’t gone to the trouble of trying to reverse it by doubling up on a particular card.

I don't know about the global server but Showdown has been extremely balanced this week on the Asia server with little or no nerfing. I've been grinding with my 97 OVR NBA lineup and have been mostly playing opponents in the 95-98 range. This is completely different from last week where my 97 OVR Classic lineups were facing 89-94 OVR opponents the majority of the time.

That may be because people have higher OVR NBA lineups in general or it may be because the higher OVR users aren't getting a leg up this week. it could also be due to the lack of bonuses since most people aren't using the 3 DS player bonus.

In any event, it's been smooth sailing. The pack rewards haven't been great, however.

I had a similar experience earlier in the week on global. I find if I play several matches at a time that the matchups are more even. If I try to get a quick match in here or there I almost always pull a higher OVR. But I agree this week seems different.
Edit: same experience this week on pack rewards too

I won like 20 matches in a row the other night and moved up from 400 to under 50. The next night I think I won 2 matches in the same amount of time. Each time I was playing teams anywhere from 92-100 OVR as a 99 OVR. I'm convinced there are games you can win and games you cannot and the system predetermines it for you - you're just along for the ride most matches.

No opinion on 83 but 87 Prince of Fire Simmons maxed is still probably in the Top 5 PG's available for the NBA lineup.

Right now, maxed 83 Simmons has practically the same stats as the non trained 87 version. It has 1 boost less on 3 pointer, and I got him for 260k. Should I go for his 87 version even though it has 1 more boost and cost 1 mill just to upgrade him to a 93?
I would suggest working on TOTM Simmons rather than Prince of Fire Simmons but of course this depends on your budget and ability to generate coins. As for the difference between base PoF Simmons and maxed, it's definitely noticeable - especially his AI performance. Like I said, no experience with 83 Simmons trained or not.

I'd love to get his 92 TOTW version, but it's super rare on any AH
Agree, next to King of Ice Simmons, this would be my choice as well because you can train him to 97/98 depending on boosts.  Hopefully, TOTM Simmons is an improvement over Playoff Simmons.  Some argue that maxed PoF Simmons is better than Playoff Simmons maxed.
