I agree that there are some cool concepts for S2 like the coaching and levelling up, but overall, the implementation of the game has been pretty terrible. All of those technical problems that people are having may seem to be very tiny, but they are 100% part of the game. When EA delayed the release of S2 by weeks, I had been hoping that they would use that time to actually release a finished product. Instead, they gave us a game that looks like a beta test. If the game were as smooth as S1 was by the end, I would have less issues with the game. Let's take, for example, the Rep system. I really like it too! It rewards grinding and gives people another reason to play H2H outside of promos. However, H2H is virtually unplayable right now because only like 1/100 of the players that show up on the H2H map won't give me the "this user is in too many games" notification. The lag ranges from mildly annoying to causing me to put down my phone in frustration. The ratings are absolutely horrible in a lot of areas (Kyle Korver and Dirk Nowtizki's 3-point rating vs. Giannis Antetokounmpo's, for example). Character models have a lot of bugs and mistakes (for which there's an entire thread). I'd be okay with the classic players being unauctionable if there were an actual point to the Auction House, but between not fixing the search interface (still having to press reset every time I want to delete something instead of just being able to backspace), not being able to sell trained players (which will be most of the good ones), the fact that the Legendary promo players are unauctionable, and the egregious tax (35%! Hurts auction house users more than coin sellers), it's incredibly hard to make coins like I did last year. Hopefully, the market normalizes a few weeks into things, but it's still a dumpster fire right now. And speaking of which, the legendary promo is literal pay to win, and not even the good kind. It's completely left to chance since none of the players or collectibles are even auctionable. You could pay hundreds of dollars on the promo and theoretically not even have the right pieces for a single player. I was personally a fan of the five lineups last year, I thought it set NBALM apart from Madden Mobile in a good way. I'm willing to give the two lineups the benefit of a doubt, but one is practically irrelevant and both are filled with bugs.

tl;dr yeah, S2 has some cool ideas, but the execution has been booty so far

So half of the issues that u are saying in this statement are the same as last year tho. We as a costumers should have told ea about the bugs but looks like they dont care about the thinks that we dont tell them to fix...
Not really? By halfway through S1, H2H worked perfectly fine. The only issues that I could see being carry-overs from last year are the AH search interface, terrible ratings (which are worse than last year's by far because of how little shooting stats seem to matter this year, making players like Steph practically obsolete), and the character model bugs (many of which were fixed last year). Technical issues MATTER. The main problems seem to be that gameplay is a struggle and that the free to play model has become practically impossible to adhere to, with a much bigger emphasis on pay to win, and even they will have some problems. Across the board, there are problems. These problems expose the inherent risk of having only two lineups, only one of which seems to matter at all: players will get bored if you don't give them something to work with. So far, EA's given us nothing. I really, really hope that these gameplay issues get better over the next couple of months, which would at least make the game more palatable. However, not only do we have no guarantee that they will, but we also can't reasonably expect that EA will take away any of the other, arguable more important, problems (i.e., AH tax). S1, for all its power disparity flaws, was a functioning game by May last year, and I didn't hate playing it when it came out. It was simple, understandable, and enjoyable for me. The game is less simple and understandable this year, and that's fine. I think the complexities of the new concepts are okay. But since the gameplay isn't nearly as enjoyable alongside it, the gameplay issues are a problem.

  • posted a message on Should I stop buying packs?

Apart from playstyle packs (where you can completely avoid Classic players), most packs won't really be profitable right now, and even playstyle packs will be a net loss of money on average. Since my lineup is fine for now, I'm going to slow down on my pack opening until the AH market stabilizes a bit and go from there. I'll still open the occasional pro pack, though, since opening packs is part of the fun ;)

    Some ideas:

    * Reduce the stamina requirement on live events from 20 to 10.

    * Make 10 stamina worth 1 token, 15 stamina worth. 2 tokens and 20 stamina worth 3 tokens.

There was no point doing the difficult Ben Wallace event after the first win bonus and yet it was on the map for a 24 hours.

    * Let set players be pullable from live events.

    * Have unauctionable pack Legends and auctionable set Legends.

    * Let users complete the 100 token set with rep instead of NBA cash.

    * Let users get a free base Legend and let them upgrade it with tokens.

All of your suggestions are great, but I especially like this one. If players could build their choice of one of the legends and then upgrade it through sets like we did with CNY Lin last year, then that would make the promo so much more worthwhile.

  • posted a message on I'm tired of one lineup

This is one of my primary concerns with reducing the number of lineups to 1 (basically, since Classic is so rarely used). With training being a thing now, most players will have lineups that they're satisfied with after three promos or so. Unless different versions of the same character are released with different perks, there's not really going to be a reason to actually try to keep up with the game. From a business perspective, this could totally hurt EA, since a lot of players will get lineup fatigue much earlier in the season than last year if this is the case. I know that there was a time when I was incredibly bored with my Small Ball lineup and only used it when I had to in live events. If that happens with the NBA lineup, the game will lose a lot of its luster for me.

This is pure speculation, but I wonder if development was way behind EA's schedule and they just had to get something out. As it was season 2 was delayed significantly. It certainly feels like we're playing a public beta. I'm assuming the NBALM team is significantly smaller than the MM and FIFA teams as those games are older and are much more feature rich. It's super frustrating for us as users, but I'm sure the devs are also frustrated. And it doesn't help that there are decisions that are made by those above them that impact on our experience as players (i.e. ways to make EA more money). I get that EA is a business, but right now it feels like they're losing their customer's faith in a pretty big way.
This is 100% the vibe that I got. There are certainly features (like NBA cash to finish some sets where you only have like 75% of the collectibles) that I could see the higher-ups telling the devs to throw in here. I was so happy with early S1 last year, though. It felt like a product where the devs at least had a coherent vision and executed it quite creatively. Early S2 feels like someone's boss gave them a checklist of things to put in the game by a certain date, never mind the actual gameplay experience. It's incredibly disappointing from a customer service perspective because of how all of this happened and how it was communicated.

Since any database has yet to be updated, I thought I'd keep a running thread of underrated golds for newer players who are looking to maximize their gameplay ability.

    >inb4 salty players complain that ratings don't matter anyway

Try and keep it positive, guys. There are plenty of other threads where you can complain about things, but this one is genuinely trying to help people.

To start off: I've got the Shooting 75 OVR Zach Collins at my center position for my NBA lineup. I really like him, tbh. He's fine at getting rebounds, but his scoring ability is really good at this point in the game. He can seemingly make shots from anywhere and a high percentage of his post shots go in for me. Plus, he seems to be able to run fast enough to keep up with most, so I really like his gameplay.

On the classic lineup side of things, I really like the Mark Eaton (Run 'N Gun center, 73 OVR). I know a lot of people know about him already and it doesn't really help since you can't get him on the Auction House, but his combination of really good height and really good scoring ability make him a real beast. If you pick one up, keep him!

Yeah, I started getting the KAT and Melo crossroad events after my NBA OVR became 75. I actually like this system. Who knows? Maybe at level 20, it becomes 5 stamina? (lol)

More urgent problems than the gameplay, IMO:

    * Fix the Legacy event

    * Lower the AH tax

    * Speed up the stamina refill time

    * Bring back Daily Objectives stamina refills

    * Introduce Master Sets and Weekly programs

    * Let us use our Classic lineup in H2H.

    * Better LvL rewards and more than 2 quarters

There are some improvements for NBALM Asia users. For example, last season Pro Packs cost 15,000 coins but now they are the same price as the world server. And we could only use coins for Pro Packs and Starter Packs whereas we can now use coins for promo packs. We are also keeping up to speed with the world server and have the same cards so far. The only difference thus far is we get new season login bonuses.

Personally. I think EA wasn't ready for the reset and Crossroads is a way for them to buy time while they produce more content. I hope so anyway. The warning signs where there when the developers asked the community for new ideas for season 2 weeks before it was due to be launched. All the money and man hours go to FIFA and Madden, I suppose.

I agree with so much of this. The gameplay is pretty fine in my opinion, my experience seems to be that ratings seem to matter a bit more this year. Two things that I would add: 1. if you're not going to make Classic lineups usable in most places, at least make them auctionable and 2. completely agree with how stupid some of the ratings are
    Quote from Cyphz >>

I agree with so many of these. My biggest question is, how does this happen?

    67. Since leveling up doesn't increase the stamina limit, it has no purpose after lvl 11.

Even in Madden there is a point to getting to a higher level. This is like game basics 101.

The slight decrease in stamina recharge times as you level up kind of addresses this... so it's not like there's no benefit, it's just really small.
